Tommaso Caputo

Tommaso Caputo (born 17 October 1950 in Afragola) is an Italian Catholic Bishop and Diplomat, the Titular Archbishop of Otriculum. He was ordained a priest in Naples on 10 April 1974.
An alumnus of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy from October 1976, he obtained a Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome.
Mgr. Caputo joined the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on March 25, 1980 where he occupied various posts at the Apostolic Nunciature in Rwanda (1980-1984), the Apostolic Nunciature in the Philippines (1984–87), at the Apostolic Nunciature in Venezuela (1987–89), and at the Secretariat of State (1989–93). On June 19, 1993 he was nominated Head of Protocol in the Secretariat of State.
Caputo was appointed Archbishop of Otriculum and Apostolic Nuncio to Malta and Libya in 2007. He was ordained archbishop by Pope Benedict XVI (as principal consecrator) and the Cardinals Tarcisio Bertone and Marian Jaworski on 29 September 2007. He held his post as Nuncio until his appointment as prelate of the Territorial Prelature of Pompei in November 2012.
